Wests Tigers Results: Round 23

Wests Tigers have kept their finals hopes alive with a big win over the Newcastle Knights at Campbelltown — setting up a huge clash next Sunday against St. George-Illawarra.

Michael Maguire's side ran in five unanswered tries in the first half to record their biggest half-time lead in over a decade, before going on with the job in the second half to record a 42-point victory that did as much good for their points differential as it did their need to stay in touch with the Broncos and Sharks.

Wests Tigers now find themselves in ninth position on the ladder with a must-win game against the Dragons looming this Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground, before returning to Leichhardt Oval for their final regular season game.

The Broncos face off against the sixth-placed Eels at Suncorp Stadium on Friday while the Sharks take on the third-placed Raiders at Cronulla on Sunday.

The win wasn't the only good result for Wests Tigers at Campbelltown on Saturday with the club's Jersey Flegg side continuing their stunning late season surge with a fifth straight win to also keep their finals hopes alive.

Wayne Lambkin's side find themselves in ninth position with one game remaining in the regular season. They will face the 10th-placed Warriors in New Zealand on Saturday morning — needing to better the result of the eighth-placed Dragons, who take on the sixth-placed Raiders later on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a number of bright moments during the season, the club's Canterbury Cup side saw their finals aspirations come to an end on Saturday with a disappointing loss to the Newtown Jets consigning them to the bottom four.

The Magpies will look to finish the season on a winning note when they travel across the ditch to face New Zealand on Saturday for their final game of the season.
