Canterbury Cup Team Announcement: Round 23

Western Suburbs Magpies Canterbury Cup Coach Brett Hodgson has named his side to take on the Newtown Jets for their Round 23 clash this Saturday at Henson Park.

Kickoff for the match is at 12:45pm AEST with live coverage via FOX League.

After going down in a tight loss last week to the Penrith Panthers, Hodgson's side will again be without a number of key players due to first-grade commitments, but still includes several NRL squad members with Dylan Smith, Kane Bradley, Sam McIntyre, Robbie Rochow and Alex Seyfarth all named for the Magpies.

Jersey Flegg-eligible forwards Michael Fenn, Felix Smith and Ray Jankovic are also included while Joseph Ratuvakacereivalu returns from injury in a boost for the side.

Currently sitting in 10th position on the ladder, Western Suburbs can move to seventh with a win over the Jets — whom they defeated 32-22 earlier this year — while a loss would leave them in doubt of making the Canterbury Cup finals.

Despite recording just two wins from their past five games, Newtown have a strong record at Henson Park with just one defeat from eight games there this season.
