Garner charged by Match Review Committee

Wests Tigers forward Luke Garner has been charged by the Match Review Committee following his side's Round 21 defeat to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Garner has been charged with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - Other offence following a late tackle on Bulldogs playmaker Lachlan Lewis in the 23rd minute.

Garner was sent to the sin bin for the incident on the night, before returning to score his side's final try in the 79th minute that almost sent the match to Golden Point.

With 35 carryover points to be added to the 100-point base penalty, Garner would miss next week's clash against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Wests Tigers have until 12:00pm AEST on Monday to enter a plea for the incident and have not done so as yet.

Bulldogs forward Chris Smith — who was also sin-binned for a late tackle on Ryan Matterson — was charged with the same offence as Garner, but is free to play in Round 22 with an early guilty plea.
