Wests Tigers would like to extend their condolences to the family of John Chalk following his recent passing.
Former Australian Rugby League and New South Wales Rugby League Chairman, Chalk was the inaugural Chair of the Wests Tigers Board after serving as the Chairman of Balmain Tigers for many years — beginning in 1985.
Chalk's association with the club began before that as he served as both a manager and selector for the Tigers' Jersey Flegg team and other lower grade teams.
Chalk then joined the NSWRL, ARL NRL boards from 2001 and served as both ARL and NSWRL Chairman between 2010 and 2012.
He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016 “for significant service to Rugby League as an administrator at the state and national level, and to Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth."
The thoughts of all at Wests Tigers are with John's family at this time.
