Sluggish Wests Tigers downed by Raiders

Wests Tigers have gone down 28-0 to the Canberra Raiders on Friday night in their Round 13 clash at Bankwest Stadium.

The return of inspirational forward Chris Lawrence wasn't enough for Michael Maguire's side against an in-form Canberra Raiders outfit, who crossed for three off-the-cuff first half tries to cement themselves in a winning position.

Wests Tigers threatened at times in the second half and looked to have reduced the margin as Luke Brooks kicked through for himself, but it was a night where the bounce of the ball wasn't going their way — the try denied for an accidental offside.

Raiders captain Jarrod Croker put the game beyond doubt when he capped off an intercept from Elliot Whitehead with 15 minutes remaining to make it 22-0.

Benji Marshall (eye) didn't return for the second half in a tough night for the home side, who will travel to North Queensland next Friday night to face the Cowboys as they look to end a frustrating run of three consecutive defeats.
