Wests Tigers made it two from two to start 2019 with a 34-6 win against New Zealand Warriors at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
Moving to the top of the 2019 Telstra Premiership ladder for the first time in club history, wet conditions made it tough going early on for for the hosts before the craft and guile of Robbie Farah steered Michael Maguire's side to an impressive win.
In Canterbury Cup, Western Suburbs thrashed the New Zealand Warriors 48-10 with Josh Reynolds starring as a key playmaker. Playing his first game of the year, Reynolds scored two tries and had a hand in five others to help the Magpies to the top of the ladder with the best attacking and defensive record in the competition.
Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg kicked off their year with a thrilling 28-28 draw against the New Zealand Warriors. Leading 22-6 at half-time, the home side looked to have thrown away the win when the visitors roared back to take a 28-22 lead before a late Jock Madden try ensured that Wayne Lambkin's side would share the points.
After back-to-back defeats, Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale side bounce back in to the winners circle and the top four with a 34-10 win over the Canberra Raiders, while the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership side began their campaign with a tough 20-0 defeat to CRL Newcastle in their maiden outing as a team.
