It was a disappointing end to the season for Wests Tigers, as they went down in convincing fashion to the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Thursday night to end the regular season.
Knowing that a finals spot was out of reach, Ivan Cleary's side started brightly and led the Rabbitohs twice inside the opening 25 minutes before a flurry of points from the cardinal and myrtle saw them charge back in to the lead and storm away with a dominant win that, in turn, helped them secure a top four finish.
It was also a weekend of heartbreak for the Intrust Super Premiership side, who went down in an Extra Time thriller to the Wyong Roos. Leading 14-12 with a minute left in Extra Time, the Roos scored a controversial try following a potential forward pass to keep their season alive — knocking the Western Suburbs Magpies out of the finals following their impressive first season under Coach Brett Hodgson.
The results over the weekend means no more Wests Tigers teams are in action in season 2018.
