Magpies to return to Lidcombe Oval this weekend

Wests Tigers Intrust Super Premiership team, Western Suburbs Magpies, will return to Lidcombe Oval this weekend for the first time since the 1986 NSWRL season.

Lidcombe Oval hosted over 250 Western Suburbs Magpies games across a 30-year period, and will see football return to the field again this Saturday, May 26 as the Magpies take on the Newtown Jets.

Having won their past two games to sit second on the Intrust Super Premiership ladder, the game is certainly shaping as a big one on and off the field ahead of the bye next weekend, with a raft of activities for the whole family available including food trucks, face painting and a jumping castle for the kids!

Gates will open from 10:45am on Saturday with Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg kicking off proceedings against Cronulla at 11:00am before the main game between Wests and Newtown takes centre stage at 1:00pm.

Western Suburbs Ron Massey team will close out the day when they take on Guildford at 3:00pm.

Past Magpies greats including Tommy Raudonikis, Bobby Cooper, Wayne Smith, Noel Kelly, Barry Glasgow and Allan Fallah will all be there on the day so make sure you're there to cheer on the team!
