Wests Tigers winger Mahe Fonua will become Wests Tigers Player #215 when he makes his club this afternoon against the Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium.
Fonua will start on the left wing in place of Malakai Watene-Zelezniak for his first game of the season, after a sensational start to his Wests Tigers career in the Intrust Super Premiership competition.
Through the opening seven rounds of the year, Fonua has chalked up six tries, 14 offloads, 39 tackle breaks and over 200 metres per game to help the Western Suburbs Magpies sit on top of the ladder.
He becomes the seventh player to make their club debut for Wests Tigers this season — joining new recruits Corey Thompson, Pita Godinet, Ben Matulino and Robbie Rochow in today's team.
A Tongan international, Fonua made his first-grade debut with the Melbourne Storm in 2012, playing 50 games for the Victorians before departing to England to play with Hull FC at the end of 2015.
The powerful outside back played two successful seasons in the black and white — ending his time there with two Challenge Cup Final victories and selection in the 2016 Super League Dream Team.
Electric with the ball in hand and strong in the air, Fonua is definitely a player to watch out for today, and one that Wests Tigers wish all the best to as he makes his club debut this afternoon.
