Wests Tigers Intrust Super Premiership team, Western Suburbs Magpies, also kicked off the year with a big victory while the club's Tarsha Gale side also won to preserve their unbeaten start to the year.
Round 2 will see Wests Tigers travel to Melbourne to take on the Storm, while the club's Intrust Super Premiership and Jersey Flegg teams face the Newcastle Knights.
