Kyle Lovett has been named the Wests Tigers 2015 NRL Rookie of the Year at the Club’s annual Grand Final Luncheon on Friday at Doltone House.
After making his first-grade debut in the centres against the Gold Coast Titans in Round 1, Lovett went on to feature in 21 of a possible 24 games in his rookie season — making him one of 13 players at the Club to play 20 or more games in season 2015.
Primarily playing as a right-edge forward, Lovett showed great defensive awareness and consistency in his debut year — averaging 31.5 tackles a game at a 97% completion rate.
A product of the Balmain development system — playing his junior football for Five Dock RSL and Leichhardt Juniors before playing junior reps for Balmain — Lovett scored his sole try of 2015 in Round 4 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.
His best game of 2015 came in Round 14 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where he produced 131 metres off 16 runs as well as 30 tackles in the Club’s 34-6 victory.
Following on from his strong season, Lovett also recently re-signed with the Club at the end of 2015 — securing his future at Wests Tigers until the end of 2017.
Wests Tigers congratulate Kyle on being named the Club’s Rookie of the Year for 2015.
