Wests Tigers would like to congratulate Bodene Thompson on being named the 2014 Coach’s Player of the Year at today’s Grand Final Luncheon.

Thompson played 21 games for Wests Tigers in 2014 — missing three games due to two suspensions in the back half of the season — and was one of the Club’s most consistent and reliable players throughout the course of the year on the right edge.

The former Gold Coast Titans player averaged over 30 tackles per game in 2014, while also averaging 86 metres, despite being forced to spent many games in the centres to cover for numerous injuries suffered by the Club’s outside backs.

He also managed to score six tries in season 2014, including a second-half double in the Club’s final game of the season against the Cronulla Sharks in Round 26.

Thompson joined Wests Tigers in 2013 after playing 49 games for the Titans.

The Tauranga City junior, who played for the New Zealand Maori in 2010 and 2013, culminated a strong 2014 with selection in the New Zealand Kiwis train-on squad.
