Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that Mitchell Moses will make his first-grade debut this afternoon against the Penrith Panthers.
Moses will become the 175th player to play first-grade for Wests Tigers.
The 19-year-old will play fullback this afternoon against the Panthers — replacing James Tedesco, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Club’s 19-18 win over the Canberra Raiders in Round 16.
A local junior for the Club — having played his junior football with Holy Cross Rhinos alongside Luke Brooks — Moses has risen up through the grades at Wests Tigers, and has shown fine form this year in both NYC and NSW Cup, as both teams sit inside the top four of their respective competitions.
It's not too late! Be there at Leichhardt Oval this Sunday to watch Wests Tigers take on the Penrith Panthers! Tickets available at the gate!
He was named at five-eighth the New South Wales U/20’s team that comprehensively beat Queensland earlier in the year, and was also took part in the Club’s 2014 Auckland Nines team at the beginning of the year.
While Moses won’t play in his preferred No. 6 jersey this Sunday, the teenager is still well equipped to play at fullback. Moses played large amounts of junior football in the No. 1 jersey, and played at the back in the Club’s under-20’s victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 14.
He was named man-of-the-match in that game, with two tries and try-assist.
Moses will make his debut this weekend at Leichhardt Oval — a special place for the youngster as he played most of his junior football in the area.
“As a young bloke, I always dreamed of having my debut at Leichhardt,” Moses said.
“I [always used] to watch the games there and watch how big the crowd gets and how they get behind the boys, so it’s always been a dream of mine.
“I haven’t been thinking too much about [making my debut].
“I’m just trying to take it as a normal week and go from there.”
