Wests Tigers suffered a 30-6 loss to Cronulla Sharks at Allianz Stadium tonight in round 9 of the Telstra Premiership.

In front of a crowd of 9858, the loss equalled the longest losing streak of six games for the club. Wests Tigers remain on the bottom of the ladder and still with a horrific injury toll of seven established first grade players sidelined.

The Sharks lost winger Beau Ryan to a nasty head gash in the ninth minute after colliding with prop Sauaso Sue.

Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the 11th minute when the ball was spread right for winger Matt Utai to brush off opposite winger Sosaia Feki to score in the corner for a 4-0 lead. Half-back Curtis Sironen converted the try from the sideline for a 6-0 lead.

Wests Tigers forward Shaun Spence left the field with concussion in the 21st minute after a head clash.

The Sharks got on the board off a mistake by winger Marika Koroibete. He defused a crossfield bomb and as he was being driven back in-goal, tried to offload a pass to five-eighth Benji Marshall, who couldnt control the ball, resulting in Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita putting his hands on it to score. Full-back Michael Gordon converted for a 6-all scoreline after 24 minutes.

In the 26th minute, a Todd Carney cross-field kick found the arms of Jonathan Wright in goal. However, the video referee ruled a knock-on, with the ball coming off the hands of Ben Pomeroy.

Koroibete was put under plenty of pressure from crossfield bombs, an area he will need to work on. The score remained 6-all at half-time.

2nd Half

The Sharks took a 10-6 lead in the 43rd minute through half-back Jeff Robson after a smart play down the left flank. Gordon converted from in front of the posts for a 12-6 lead.

A spilt bomb by Tedesco in front of his tryline saw Jayson Nukuya dive on the ball to score next to the posts in the 46th minute. Gordon converted for an 18-6 lead.

A crossfield kick by Todd Carney saw Feki leap high above centre Joel Reddy to hit the ground and then roll over to score to give Cronulla a 22-6 lead after 50 minutes. Gordon converted for a 24-6 lead.

Feki crossed over again in the 76th minute after a Luke Lewis kick rebounded off the foot of a Wests Tigers player. Gordon converted for a 30-6 scoreline.
