Wests Tigers full-back Tim Moltzen is confident a combination of soul searching and more hard work on the training paddock will have the side in good stead for round two.
Moltzen said the team were upset as a group over their performance in the opening round loss to Newcastle at Hunter Stadium on Monday night.
Wests Tigers Coach Mick Potter has shown faith in his players by keeping the same team beaten by the Knights for the clash against Penrith Panthers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday, March 17.
To start the way we did and then to drop off was very disappointing. A few errors in our own half led to some of their tries, Moltzen said.
We were on the back foot for a lot of the game. It was pretty disappointing to start the year off like that.
It is about moving on as quick as we can. We will work very hard again this week and fix where we went wrong. The only positive is that it was only round one and we have time to rectify it. We will stick together as a team and as a club.
Im sure Penrith will be confident after their win and after watching our game, they will try and exploit a few of the areas we were weak in. The challenge is there for us to stop it."
