Wests Tigers NSW Cup Head Coach Paul Fletcher was happy with his charges, after taking control of the Wests Tigers squad for the preseason hit out against Penrith.

Fletcher said Head Coach, Mick Potter, could take plenty of positives from the performance in Bathurst.

"It was a good run out," said Fletcher. "We spoke about trying not to make the errors, but we started the game off making those errors so it's a good learning curve.

"I'm quite happy with the performance.

"There was a few people out there who stood out and put their hands up.

"I think there's a lot to take out of it. Mick Potter, who is sitting up in the stand will be quite happy with a few performances out there.

"We start again next week."

Captain Sean Meaney was also happy with the team's performance, but wouldn't be drawn too much, so early in the preseason.

"We were pretty rusty in a few areas," said Meaney.

"It was good to get that out of the way, everyone got out of it unscathed, it was a good first hit out for us.

"It was good for James Tedesco and Shaun Spence who got through after their long term injuries and will have some confidence in their legs.

"I thought a lot of the forwards stood out, we did a lot of defence. Taqele Naiyaravoro is a big lump of a lad, he was looking good today, we've just got to get him running a bit harder and he'll be unstoppable.

"I'm feeling the best I've felt in four or five years. I was a bit out of position tonight but I'm happy to get through 80 full minutes."
